Terms of Service

These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of Spotlight (“the Service”), operated by Spotlight CX. By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. The Service
Spotlight provides AI citation tracking, website crawling and indexing, an embeddable search widget, AI-assisted answer generation, and an administrative dashboard.
The Service is offered on a subscription basis. Features and usage limits vary by plan as described on our pricing page.
2. Accounts
You must create an account to use the Service. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You must provide accurate information and keep it up to date.
You may not share your account or allow others to access the Service through your account. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
3. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- –Index or serve content that is illegal, harmful, or violates any third party's rights
- –Circumvent usage limits or access controls
- –Reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the widget
- –Resell or sublicense access to the Service without written permission
- –Use the Service in any way that degrades performance for other users
4. AI and Content Indexing
By using the Service, you grant Spotlight permission to crawl and index content from the URLs you configure. This content is used solely to power search and AI answers for your widget.
AI-generated answers are produced by third-party AI models (currently Google Gemini). These answers may occasionally be inaccurate or incomplete. You are responsible for ensuring the widget is appropriate for your site and audience.
We do not use your indexed content to train AI models or share it with third parties beyond what is necessary to provide the Service.
5. Subscriptions and Payments
Paid plans are billed monthly via Polar, our payment processor. By subscribing, you authorise recurring charges to your payment method.
We do not offer automatic refunds. If you did not receive value from the Service, you may contact us within 7 days of your first charge and we will review your request on a case-by-case basis. No prorated refunds are issued for mid-cycle cancellations. Full details are in our Refund Policy.
Early bird pricing is locked for the lifetime of an active subscription. If you cancel and resubscribe, standard pricing at the time of resubscription applies.
We reserve the right to change pricing for new subscribers with reasonable notice. Existing subscribers on locked pricing are not affected.
6. Plans and Availability
We may update plan limits, packaging, and availability over time. Temporary audit access, previews, or promotional offers do not create a perpetual right to free service unless expressly stated.
7. Intellectual Property
The Service, including the widget code, dashboard, and all underlying infrastructure, is owned by Spotlight CX. These Terms do not grant you any ownership rights to the Service.
You retain all ownership of the content indexed from your website. You grant Spotlight a limited, non-exclusive licence to use that content to operate the Service for you.
8. Limitation of Liability
The Service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Spotlight CX shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service.
Our total liability for any claim related to the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the three months prior to the claim.
9. Termination
You may cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period — you retain access until then. No prorated refunds are issued for mid-cycle cancellations. Your data may be deleted 30 days after cancellation.
We may suspend or terminate your account for material breach of these Terms, with or without notice depending on severity.
10. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
